Though it is an island, Bahrain is ranked at the top among all the most attractive states in the Middle East. The innumerable cultural monuments, temples, mosques and other sites are impressive sights to witness here. In Bahrain you can come across a huge variety of attractive shopping centers and elegant restaurants. While you are in this island, you have to make a difficult choice of which place to visit first because they are countless. Here is a list of the best attractions in the Bahrain kingdom:

Tree of Life

Situated in the middle of the desert in the east of central Bahrain, the Tree of Life is a green oasis. It is almost 400 year old mesquite tree and its size is also remarkable with the green branches and leaves dominating the flat horizon with a height of more than 30 feet above the ground. This tree is one of the foremost landmarks in Bahrain. Be sure to take your camera when you visit the Tree of Life and the best time to take stunning photos is at sunset. Obviously, the tree’s shadow also offers a unique and an isolated atmosphere for a captivating romance or relaxation.

Al Khamis Mosque

Al Khamis Mosque is the oldest mosque in Bahrain and is situated in the west of Manama. Dozens of limestone slabs, columns, arched gates and other ruins cover a vast area, while two minarets stand proudly in both sides of the outer walls. This mosque with its incredible architecture is definitely an appealing historical landmark to visit.

Manama Souq

It is situated in the older part of the Manama city. Manama Souq is lined with shops which sell almost all types of goods like fruits, fabrics, handicrafts, spices, vegetable, and much more. You also have the opportunity to visit the gold Souq from where you can buy gold jewelry.

National Museum

The museum consists of exhibits of various archaeological items, artifacts, paintings and pictures. It covers more than 6,000 years of Bahrain’s history and the complex has three halls which are devoted to archaeology and two other halls which illustrate the lifestyle and culture of the Bahrain’s recent past. The building consists of nine galleries, gift shop, educational hall and a cafeteria in addition to the warehouses, laboratories and administrative offices.

Arad Fort

This historic structure was built in the 15th century and is located on an island called Muharraq close to the airport. The fort was initially occupied by the Portuguese before the Arab soldiers took it over. This fort was built in the typical Islamic style and is one of the most compact defensive forts in Bahrain. It overlooks the sea passages of Muharraq’s seashores. The fort is square and on each corner there is a tower which is cylindrical in shape. The structure has been renovated extensively and at night it is illuminated.

World Trade Center, Manama

This Trade Center in Manama was completed in 2008 and it comprises of a twin tower which are connected by three sky-ridges. In addition to these, three wind turbines are situated on the sky-ridges which symbolize the modern ecological vision. The towers have 50 floors rising to a height of 240 meters and twist into a sail-shape. The night scene here is inspiring and outstanding.

Bahrain International Circuit

This enormous motorsport complex is situated only a few miles from the western shoreline of Bahrain and hosts many motorsport venues, the most reputed being the Bahrain Grand Prix. The impressive tracks are splendid sights to witness, while another famous symbol of the circuit is a traditional dhow boat, which will definitely allure you to take many photos.

The island of Bahrain, though small, has many attractive things to offer to everyone including both local and foreign tourists.
